Cambria Consulting were the appointed Civil and Structural engineers for Abertillery Primary School.

Abertillery Primary School was an existing Victorian school, on a sloping site in central Abertillery. The school is surrounded by residential housing and the new school was located on the existing site by using a phased system of demolition to allow part of the existing school to decant and allow the new school to be built in two main phases.

The new school is a light and airy steel frame constructed in split levels to suit the sloping site. Extensive use of cut and fill modeling has been undertaken in order to optimise the site arrangements including the access roads into the site.

Detailed investigations into slope stability and retaining walls were undertaken in order to achieve the optimum site levels and configurations.
