Cambria Consulting are appointed as Civil and Structural Engineers for the new Cross Hands Health & Wellbeing Centre, in Carmarthenshire. This scheme is being delivered through the Designed for Life Framework: Building for Wales NHS framework. The site of the Wellbeing Centre is as serviced parcel of land situated in the wider ‘Cross Hands West’ mixed use development, west of the A48.
The Health & Wellbeing centre will have a GIFA of approximately 4,100m² and include space for more than one GP surgery, community health services, Police, Commercial areas including a pharmacy, opticians and café.
Prior to the wider site being developed, the area of the Wellbeing Centre site was overlain by a mound of tip material, over 8-9m high above surrounding ground levels. This was removed as part of infrastructure enabling works contract, however site investigation works have subsequently confirmed further made ground and colliery spoil material beneath the site necessitating a piled foundation solution for the building.
Cambria are providing a Drainage Strategy, Transport Statement and Travel Plan in support of the planning application which is due to be submitted later this year. Cambria will also be submitting the SuDs application for approval by the newly formed SuDs approval body (SAB).
