In order to maximise the developable area on sites it is often necessary to provide retaining walls to deliver steep changes to ground levels, which cannot be achieved with the natural ground. Traditionally retaining walls of any significant height would have been constructed of Reinforced Concrete (3.2.6) but there are now a variety of options to choose from which will usually deliver considerable cost savings compared to the RC option.
We believe that the best way to establish which retaining wall solution is the most cost effective soutionfor a particular location and set of ground conditions is to design a number of bespoke options and for each of these to be costed by the contractor or QS. We are therefore experienced in designing the widest range of ground retaining structures including:
- Reinforced Concrete Retaining Walls
- Gabion Walls
- Mass Blockwork
- Reinforced Brickwork/Blockwork
- Natural Timber Post Walls
- Pre-cast Concrete Sectional Walls
- Soil Nailing
- Tied and Free Standing Crib Walling
