Most of our projects involve us in the structural design and detailing of timber, which is one of the most sustainable structural materials when FSC or PEFC certified. Timber is strong and relatively light weight and hence easy to install on site. Perhaps more surprisingly the larger timber sections can also perform well in fires since they tend to heat without the risk of buckling and the charring of the surface insulates the timber within which slows the degradation process. We have gained considerable experience on how to best use timber as cost effectively as possible including the design/specifying of:
- Softwood Floor and Roof Joists.
- Timber Framed Buildings to 8 Storeys.
- Trussed Rafters.
- Glulam Beams and Portal Frames.
- OSB – Ordinary Strand Board.
- CLT – Cross Laminated Timber.
- Protected Chipboard Boarding.
- Baulk Timber Beams
- Timber Retaining Walls
- Protective Measures to Increase Durability.
- External and Marine Quality Plywood.
- External Fibreglass Coated Chipboard as Permanent Shuttering.
