The “drive” to try and reduce traffic volumes is supported by the initiatives we incorporate within our Travel Plans which we produce in conjunction with our Transportation Assessment Reports. This encourages the wider use of more sustainable modes of transport which is enshrined in the latest National Planning Policy Framework which states “transport policies have an important role to play in facilitating sustainable development, and contributing to wider sustainability and health objectives”. It also confirms that “all developments should be required to provide a Travel Plan
Our Travel Plans provide simple easy to follow initiatives designed to promote cheaper and more sustainable modes of transport including sections which promote:
- The increased use of public transport;
- The increased levels of walking and cycling
- A healthier lifestyle for residents, staff, visitors and the wider community;
- Actively trying to minimise the impact of social exclusion caused by mobility issues
- The use of public transport buses, trains, etc.
- Car Share Schemes operating in the vicinity of the development
- Travel Points Schemes
