Between the months of June and August 2022 we provided opportunities for 5 students to gain experience in the world of engineering consultancy to find out what it really entails. Luke, Ethan, Dilan, Alice and Emma were all a delight to have in the office and the feedback from them was well…read for yourself.
Luke: Looking back on the week, I appreciated the variety and structure that had been put in place for me at Cambria. I felt welcome and excited to work alongside real engineers, in a real working environment, as this gave me a true understanding of what life could be like as a structural or civil engineer. I would like to give a huge thanks to the team for enabling this experience to become a reality; it has definitely helped me to make the right decision for my chosen career path in the not so distant future.
Dilan: I found my time at Cambria very beneficial it showed not only what being a structural engineer is like but also the work atmosphere. Everyone was very nice and was able to answer all my questions, I really felt like one of the team. The office lunch was delicious and something to remember. It also helped me fully under the whole project of a building form the very start with the architect’s drawing to the completed building itself. I was very interesting to me and may well be something I pursue in the future. I am very grateful to everyone at Cambria and my time there was very enjoyable.
Ethan: Overall, I have had an amazing time and all of the staff have been so helpful and welcoming. I have really felt a part of the team and would love to come back to show off some more of my skills at some point.
Emma: In conclusion, my experience with Cambria exposed me to the working environment and gave me an insight into the everyday role of an engineer. My experience allowed me to use and develop my IT skills by introducing me to new CAD software and processes used within both the structural and civil departments. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working on these projects in such a friendly office and am grateful to both Lydia and Jon for this opportunity!
Alice: Overall, I have loved the hands-on and practical approach that Cambria had in our work experience placement week, and Cambria has secured engineering as a first-choice career path for me, whether through university or an apprenticeship. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity, so thank you very much to all at Cambria who made us so welcome!
Dilan has already asked if he can join us again in 2023 – looking forward it.
