Cambria – Proud to be Gold Sponsors for Cardiff Devils 2016/2017 Season

August 16th, 2016

We are excited to be Gold Sponsors for the Cardiff Devils 2016/2017 Season.

The pre-season friendly campaign started on Saturday 13 August against Medevesck Zagreb of the KHL.  It was a great game, fast and furious but unfortunately on the night – the Devils lost with a 6-0 defeat.  Medvescak Zagreb followed up Saturday’s 6-0 win on Sunday with a 4-1 defeat of the Devils at Ice Arena Wales, with the lone Devils goal on the weekend coming from newcomer Layne Ulmer in the first period of Sunday’s match.

Coach Andrew Lord commented that “We have learned a great deal and I think this extra preparation will make us a better team to start the season. We played 4 lines and I got to test out a few line combinations, but more importantly we got to see the intensity that they play with every shift.  It is hard to judge how good our team is when we are playing a KHL team, but I like our overall speed and skill level. These were our first 2 games together and we only had 5 days of training before this weekend, but we have to be happy with this year’s team. “There is plenty to be excited about. The new guys all looked good and the returning players came into camp in better shape than last season. We have 3 more weeks of preparation before the EIHL campaign gets underway, so we will be into a good routine by then and miles ahead of where we have been the last 2 years.”

The Devils are back in pre-season action this weekend when they host Slovakian Elite league team Banska Bystrica for two games.
