Trish’s Walk 100 Miles in 4-Weeks Challenge

January 22nd, 2021

At the end of October 2020 our Trish decided lockdown was getting to her with the winter nights closing in, so set a personal challenge to walk 100 miles over 4 weeks.  The challenge started on Sunday 26th October 2020 with an end date of Sunday 22nd November.  The weather was not on her side for most of time but Trish managed to walk 2 to 3 miles each day in the week, come rain or shine with a few longer walks on the weekends.

The planned final walk started at 10:00am and luckily it was a gloriously sunny, albeit a bit chilly day.  The walk covered 9.01 miles with a 335ft elevation gain and started at the Mon-Brecon Canal, Crindau to up to Cwmbran Boating Lake and back via Llantarnam/Malpas Road.  Trish was accompanied (socially distanced of course) on the day by a few industry associates including Michelle James of The Urbanists, Helen James of Alder King, Jayne Hemmings of Intrado and former Cambria Colleague Ann Marie McCan.

Upon completing the challenge Trish had clocked up an impressive total of 104 miles and to celebrate the achievement drank a bottle of champagne and donated £50 to each of  her three favourite charities – Hope Rescue, British Heart Foundation and St David’s Hospice, Newport.

At Cambria, we support and encourage our employees to take time out to undertaken volunteering activities to make a difference to causes, charities and communities that  matter most to them.
