Last week, 21 teams showed up and dusted off their footy boots for the third annual Tŷ Hafan Football Fives tournament. The much-loved event took place at the Gôl Football Centre, Cardiff, and brought together businesses from across Wales, all in competition for the coveted trophy.
The day featured a special appearance from football legend Joe Ledley, and Brakes UK kindly provided snacks to keep everyone’s energy levels up.
The Cambria team featured: Noah Thompson, Rhys Jones, Oliver Gwilliam, Lewis Williams, Lewis Roberts, Joseph Webley and Neil Carlick. The lads put in a very respectable effort – making it to the quarter finals! Ultimately being knocked out by the formidable Ty Hafan Dads, we were nonetheless thrilled to take part, and to be one of the many businesses helping achieve the day’s fundraising total.
Ultimately, more than £18,000 was raised for Tŷ Hafan – funds that will make a real difference to children with life-shortening conditions in Wales, and their families.
Rhys Jones, Senior Civil Engineer, said: “We loved taking part in the Tŷ Hafan Football Fives 2025 tournament yesterday at Gôl Cardiff. Our weary band of brothers put in a brilliant performance to reach the quarter finals, only to be beaten by the very deserved tournament runners ups – The Tŷ Hafan Dads . Wales legend Joe Ledley told some brilliant stories in the Q&A session afterwards and this was a great opportunity to share a drink with the other teams. Importantly, upwards of £18,000 was raised for Ty Hafan – supporting terminally ill children and their families across Wales.”
