At Cambria, we recognise the value in having everyone equipped with the knowledge and confidence to respond in an emergency – and when it comes to our projects, we are always on the pulse. But last week, half the team attended a full-day course to improve their skills in an area we hope we never have to use – First Aid.
The Emergency First Aid course, provided by Hands On Training, covered a wide range of essential first aid skills, from handling everyday injuries to performing CPR, giving all those who attended the confidence to know what to do in a medical emergency.
Until recently, a small number of us were first aid trained, but we now have a much larger group of trained first aiders within the business.
Each participant received a certificate that’s valid for three years, meaning Cambria now has a strong team of trained individuals ready to help if needed – whether this in the office, on-site, or out in the community.
Oliver Gwilliam, who took part in the course, commented: “I’ve never done anything like this before but really enjoyed learning a completely new skill. In particular, learning how to perform CPR was a real surprise as I didn’t realise just how much force is needed to carry it out effectively. It just goes to show how important it is to be properly trained in this type of skill – although I hope I never have to use it.”
