Carys Thomas Attends Swansea CITB Women in Construction Careers Day

The Cambria team are passionate about encouraging the next generation to take up careers in construction and engineering, and recently our Graduate Structure Engineer Carys Thomas had an opportunity to do just that.

On July 11th, in support of Women in Property (Wales Region) Carys took part in the Swansea CITB Women in Construction Careers Day, hosted by the Go Construct: Engage Programme team.

In total,77 Year 8 and 9 pupils from local schools attended the event to explore the wide range of career opportunities available in the construction industry, and discover what each role involves.

Carys got involved in Encon Construction’s activity, The Construction Chain, which introduced students to the various roles needed to deliver Kings Lane Corner, a local Encon project. Carys guided the students through each stage of the process: design and planning, pre-construction, and construction. They also learned about routes into the industry, and potential salaries for different roles.

Carys said, “I really enjoyed the morning and felt it was a great opportunity to open minds, ignite curiosity, and inspire the construction leaders of tomorrow.”
