The time for annual appraisals has arrived again at Cambria, and we don’t view them as a tick-box exercise – instead, we embrace a laid-back and informal approach. Our annual appraisals are one of many opportunities provided where we can offer feedback and discuss career advancement.

Over the years, our appraisal system has become increasingly relaxed, as we favour a continuous performance management style that emphasizes regular, on-the-job feedback.
How important are appraisals?
Taking time for one-on-one conversations around this time of year outside the office environment still has its merits and allows for open and honest discussions, fostering our commitment to improvement, although we have noticed it suits a certain generation of the team over others.
We don’t adhere to strict time limits for each individual, ensuring that no one feels rushed or pressured in these conversations.
Stretching over two days, the discussions bring out some really valuable feedback – but to tell the truth, what everyone looks forward the most is the group meal afterwards!
Sitting together over good food also serves as a great opportunity to share key insights that came out, which are then implemented into our operations.

Big thank you to Goose on The Loose, Penarth Marina for a fantastic meal to end the week with the team.
