A little over a week ago, six of the Cambria team embarked on our much-anticipated Welsh Three Peaks challenge. The aim was to scale three iconic Welsh mountains – Yr Wyddfa, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan – all in a single day, in support of children’s charity Tŷ Hafan.
The epic adventure started in the dark – with teams of trekkers starting the hike up Yr Wyddfa as early as 4am. Braving rain as well as an exceptionally early morning, the Cambria team made it up the first mountain in one piece.
Next came the one-and-a-half hour journey south to the formidable second mountain of the day – Cadair Idris. Some found the trek harder than others – but we stuck together and with the rain having eased off, the route up the mountain included some spectacular scenery that made the tired legs worthwhile!
The final challenge brought everyone back to South Wales to climb Pen y Fan – and although everyone was aching, there was no backing down. In concluding the Pen y Fan climb, the team took over 50,000 steps in total – and were hiking for 17.5 hours.
