Last week the Cambria team enjoyed our much-anticipated away day at the lovely Hensol Castle in Pontyclun.
The picturesque historic castle was the location for a day of Traitors-style games and challenges, where much like the TV show, participants had to beat the backstabbers and triumph in the challenges.
As a shock result, no-one guessed the traitor on their team correctly – and apparently that has never happened before!
James Spencer’s team won the most gold and the team prize of a box of chocolates, while Kiron won the individual traitor’s prize – a bottle of prosecco (which Trish gratefully took off his hands, as he doesn’t drink it).
After the fun but challenging games, everyone enjoyed a sunny lunch of gourmet wraps and sandwiches in the courtyard.
In the afternoon, it was time for a tour of the Hensol Castle Distillery – the first full-scale gin distillery in South Wales. The tour took in all the sights of the stunning 17th century castle and its rich history, from the estate’s founding in 1419, to its use as a County asylum in 1926, and finally its purchase by Gerald Leeke and eventual reopening in 2015 as a wedding venue and conference centre.
Of course, it goes without saying that the tour also had to include a chance to sample the produce at Hensol Distillery! And after that, it was time to head home – though some stopped off at Penarth for a few more drinks first.
All in all, it was a great day of teamwork and traitorous behaviour. Our thanks to the Off Limits Event Professionals team, and to Hensol Castle for the great day out.
