To fully realise the benefits building information modelling can bring to a project, easy access to information is essential.

This can however be frustrating sometimes for non-technical team members, how do project managers measure progress when 3D model’s are constantly evolving? Am I duplicating information? Allowing inaccuracies and inefficiencies to creep in?

These questions are being asked more and more by our project partners.

Autodesk have a ‘free to download’ model viewing product called – Design Review, if you have an Autodesk subscription you may already have it!

This free software could be the answer, no prior knowledge of CAD is required, it’s as easy to access as a pdf, but can deliver so much more than just marking-up, for example selecting an object such as a concrete floor slab will not only give you its thickness and concrete specification but also its volume, pretty useful for estimators!

3D modellers simply publish their 3D Revit models to .dwf format to enable the entire project team immediate access to a wealth of information contained in a data rich 3D model.

Need to access information on the go?  Simple, there’s even an app available allowing you access to your model’s using your android mobile or iPhone!
