Earlier this month, our very own Gabby McDermott took part in a beach clean at Langland Bay, Mumbles, that was organised by the Marine Conservation Society.
All Cambria staff have the opportunity to take a ‘charity day’, where they get out of the office to volunteer for a local cause, and what a great initiative Gabby chose.
The event was not only sunny and scenic, but also came with the opportunity to make a real difference to the local area.
The Marine conservation society provided all the equipment required, which resulted in a total of 253 items of litter collected from Langland Bay beach.
According to the Marine Conservation Society’s post-event survey results, 47% of the litter gathered was made up of plastic and polystyrene, while 26% was wood and metal waste.
All the data collected has now been added to the organisation’s database, which plays a key role in driving conservation work and informing environmental policy across the UK.
It was a rewarding experience for all involved – both in terms of environmental impact and personal achievement for Gabby. Small actions like these can make a big difference, and we were proud to have had Gabby be part of the effort.
