Having joined the Cambria team this May, Noah Thompson has now been in his new role as Structural Engineer for six months, and it is brilliant to have him as part of the team.
Having previously worked in both domestic and commercial roles within structural engineering, Noah’s move to Cambria has seen him involved with a wider array of projects, and he’s been enjoying getting stuck in.
We sat down for a coffee and a chat to reflect on the past few months and see how Noah’s been settling in.
How are you finding your new role?
How are you finding your new role?“It’s been really interesting getting to grips with different projects and finding my footing. I am particularly enjoying the projects within the healthcare and educational sectors, as they have a larger social impact and are so rewarding to be involved with.
“I feel like I’m settling in here superbly – Cambria is closely aligned with my own values, everyone is enthusiastic about the work and you can see everyone wants to be here. There is a shared attitude where we are all happy to help and to learn, regardless of seniority. Everyone is receptive to other people’s insight, and this means we see so much more progression, both in the company and personally.”
What’s your favourite thing about the Cambria office?
“I love that we’re on the waterfront, and it’s great being outside of central Cardiff – it’s away from the bustle but still very accessible. The office is a great place to be, too. It’s really modern and I’m massive on darts so I’ve really been enjoying the dart board!”
What are you most enjoying so far about your role?
“I have quite a lot of freedom when it comes to the design process, which is brilliant. It’s great to have free reign, but also know that the support is always there. Feedback is always really constructive and the team are always happy to have a sit down and talk through things. I also love how technologically advanced the office is – everyone is open to hearing about new software, ways of using it and new processes.”
Thinking about the next few months, what would you like to achieve?
“In all honesty, I’m very focused on my current projects and really getting stuck in. Mainly, I would like to grow my confidence when it comes to my managerial responsibilities and my time management – there are never enough hours in the day! I am also working towards my chartership with IstructE.”
