Environment

One of the most noticeable changes to how we are required to approach designs within the last decade has been the increasing amounts of legislation and regulatory bodies which must vet and approve our designs in the greater interest of our environment. These essential measures do not necessarily have to stifle or restrict development, but it is essential through site testing that we understand the local environment sensitivities, and the minimise any development impact. This is achieved through early involvement and helping to ensure we are influencing the design towards development compatibility and the mutual satisfaction of all consultees.

Why do you need us?

All developments will affect our environment and the costs involved in off-setting these effects can put at risk the financial viability of a proposed development. We can help you by delivering strategic Environmental Engineering solutions that can control or eliminate these risks and have a particular expertise in delivering a wide range of these solutions at minimum cost.

When do you need us?

Developers – If you wish to develop a site or have a number of sites to choose from then you need to contact us as soon you have decided to go-ahead so we help you minimise many of the environmental related costs by careful planning and clever design.

Contractors – If you are a Contractor then contact us as soon as you have decided to tender for a contract to develop a site – preferably before the tender comes out to give us as much time as possible to help you win it.

Our expertise in delivering our environmental engineering services

We have a wide range of specialist expertise in delivering Environmental related projects for Clients throughout the country and overseas. Typical examples of the options we would normally look at for clients to try and minimise their potential environmental related project costs include:

  • Designing SUDS techniques to minimise the cost of the surface water system.
  • Carry out a site-wide cut and fill exercise to minimise the cost of bulk materials.
  • Adopt vibro/lime stabilisation ground improvement techniques to minimise foundations.
  • Propose detailed flood modelling to minimise the potential need for costly mitigation works.
  • Assess the use of capping, encapsulation and even PRBs to avoid the need for the costly exportation of contaminated material  to a licensed tip.
  • Avoid the need for the costly up-grading of off-site combined foul sewers  by intercepting surface water in-flows to create the required capacity.

Our expertise is in a wide range of project sectors including:

  • Education – Primary and Secondary Schools, Colleges and Universities
  • Residential – Private and Social Housing, Student Accommodation, Care Homes.
  • Retail – Food and Non Food Retail Stores, Shopping Centres and Retail Parks.
  • Offices – Single and Multi-Storey Blocks for Single and Multiple Occupation.
  • Public Buildings – Libraries, Cattle Markets, Fire Stations, Life Boat Stations, HQ Offices.
  • Healthcare – Hospital Alterations and Extensions, GP Surgeries, Pharmacies.
  • Defence – Stores, Training and Recreation Facilities, Medical and MT Facilities.
